Dear Month 1 World Racer,
This is real. This is happening. You are on the Race. You are on the journey of a lifetime. You’re probably freaking out. You’re probably having moments of extreme excitement followed by sorrow and a feeling of grief. You may even be saying to yourself, “What am I doing? What did I get myself into?” This. is. normal.
Let’s go over a few things quick so you can just embrace them now and enjoy your first few weeks away from home! It’s possible I promise! (Even when it hurts!)
*Nothing is like home, nothing is like America. Not the ketchup, not the salad, not the Coca-Cola. Just roll with it.
*If you forgot something, you’ll most likely be able to find it, or a pretty close substitute. It might not be the brand you want, but everyone has toothpaste and shampoo!
*Resist the urge to put in your earbuds and check out because it’s hard and unfamiliar! Soak in every moment! You’ll have time to put the earbuds in when you have quiet time and rest days!
*Ask Questions! You will learn more than you ever thought possible if you simply get to know the people where you’re at!
*Lean in to the Lord. When you’re sad, when you’re excited, when you want to quit (it happens), lean into Him.
*Be faithful in the small things. You will want to see miracles and wonder at times why you are doing a small task that seems unimportant. These are miracles to other people. You are an answer to their prayers. Don’t take that for granted. Be faithful in those small things and the Lord will surely show you more along the way.
And finally…..
*Remember things are going to be different. Don’t complain! Embrace the change. Embrace different.
You’re on a journey. The Lord provided several thousands of dollars for you to be in this place, at this time. That was on purpose. It was not a mistake. Trust Him. Allow Him to change you. Your year is about to get rocked!
