Hello! Welcome to my blog!!! I am so excited that you stopped by.

hello poster in different languages - Google Search:

My name is Cary Shaffer. Here is some important information about me.

~ I LOVE JESUS! I am so thankful for His love, grace, mercy, sacrifice, faithfulness, strength, comfort, protection, and plan. He has walked with me through so much in my life. I am so grateful that I will be able to connect with God for eternity all because of His great love. For me it’s not about religion; it’s all about a relationship. I am so glad that I have the opportunity to grow closer to Jesus and know Him more. I desire to make Him known and to be a part of making Heaven more crowded.

~ I am 24 years old. My birthday is April 7th! On a side note… I found out that I was accepted to The World Race the day before my 24th birthday. My acceptance was a wonderful birthday present!!!

~ I am a COLORADO native. I love the beauty that is ever so present in Colorado. Through all the seasons, there is never an absence of adventure in this great state! I was born and raised in Lakewood, Colorado – located just west of Denver and in the foothills of the great Rocky Mountains. This is the city where I attended preschool, elementary school, middle school, high school, and college. It is also the city where I now teach. I do love Minnesota and Wisconsin too.

~ I LOVE my family! I am an only child, who is very close to my mom and dad. They are some of my best friends. I was their 25th wedding anniversary surprise! In addition to my mom and dad, I have a WONDERFUL extended family. My dad is the oldest of nine and my mom has an amazing sister; therefore, there is a lot of family- a lot of family love! Here is a shout out to my AMAZING FAMILY!!!

~ I love PEOPLE, especially CHILDREN! God has created us in His image, and through Him, we each have so much to offer this world. It really is a beautiful thing. Always remember… You are IMPORTANT and you are LOVED.

~ I graduated from Colorado Christian University in May 2015. At CCU, I studied Special Education and Psychology.

~ I love my current job! I am working alongside some of my dearest friends. In addition to the awesome friendships with my coworkers, I also have some pretty amazing students – nine to be exact! I teach deaf, hard of hearing, and non-verbal students who have multiple disabilities.

~ I can communicate in English, Sign Language (ASL), and Spanish…

~ I love cats! Don’t get me wrong, I like animals in general (except for snakes – they are not my favorite!), but man do I love cats. It’s a funny story really. You see,  I grew up with Labrador Retrievers in my life and I loved them dearly. When I was younger, I was not really a cat person. Now… I cannot imagine life without a few cats. My trio of kitties: Faye, Elsi, and Eli, will be greatly missed when I leave for the race.

~ I love learning! From crocheting to installing garbage disposals to listening to other people’s stories, new skills and information fascinates me.

~ I absolutely love pickles and lemons! I even drink the juice. I prefer sour flavors. My favorite fruit is the Kumquat. This deliciousness is like Sour Patch Kids and Gushers wrapped up in a fruit! I can go without sweets, especially chocolate. Sweets are not really my thing.

~ I love yoga pants and tea. I know they don’t seem to go together, but when they happen at the same time… it’s wonderful!

~ I love being outside! Whether it’s on the playground with my students or hiking some trail or in the woods hunting with my dad, I love the fresh air and beauty that is found outside four walls.

~ I like photography and videography, even though I’m not too skilled with the technical side of things. I love capturing the beauty that God has created. I love sharing stories visually. I treasure the memories. I often ask God to smile for me in the pictures I take. It is so wonderful to see how He shows up. I love the joy the picture taking process can bring. Say Cheese!!!

~ I have been to Guatemala, Mexico, and Wyoming (The Wind River Indian Reservation) where I have had the opportunity to serve, love, and share Jesus with some pretty amazing people.

~ I have been a Sunday School teacher for 10 years. My involvement in Children’s Ministry, reminds me of God’s beautiful story and His GREAT LOVE.

~ I am a slower processor, probably due to the fact that I am a deep thinker. I ponder and think way more than I should at times.

~ I am kind of a quiet person, until I’m not.

~ I like to observe. I spend a lot of time taking in the details of the world around me.

~ I often communicate through song, even though I’m not the best singer.

~ I tend to think outside the box in a manner that creatively solves problems.

~ I like a good day of work. I am a person who jumps in and gets my hands dirty.

~ I am fascinated with feet. My fascination is probably connected to the fact that Isaiah 52:7 is one of my favorite verses. Also due to the fact that my left foot is about an inch bigger than my right foot.

~ I like to explore different cultures.

~ I believe that a little dirt never hurt anyone!

~ I LOVE fruits and vegetables!

~ I love the Fourth of July! It is one of my favorite holidays because my family knows how to celebrate it right. From parades to fireworks to good old fashion family time, some of my fondest memories will forever be connected to this holiday.

~ I like a good nap!

~ I speak with my face.

~ I love bonfires and fireworks! They remind me of my family.
