Howdy Everyone!

I know, it has been a while, so I got a lot to say! Me and my family have successfully moved into our new home in Houston, Texas. It’s been a heck of a ride, both literally and figuratively. Twenty Hours driving stuff from small town Montreat to well… Houston has been different. But it’s been great experience.

Also, this week we were required to make our first benchmark goal of $5,000. I am happy to say that I reached that goal three weeks ahead of schedule and I am so blessed to all of you for your donations and prayers! Learning to trust God in fundraising has been difficult but has pulled through with your help. Now I am asking your help to reach my next goal of $10,000 dollars by December 21st. Yes I know it seems like a lot but I know it is not unattainable…

Through the Holy Spirit.

Over the last week or so I have been focusing on the temptations of Jesus. As I prepare for training camp next month, I want to prepare like Jesus did in the wilderness. Though Jesus was the son of God, the Gospel of Luke still tells us that when he went into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, he did it filled with the Holy Spirit.

Luke 4:1-2 says that “And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil.”

Jesus, the perfect Jesus Christ, still had the Holy Spirit as he faced temptations and evil. How do we, as sinful beings, think we can do anything without the gift of the Holy Spirit that God has given us freely with our acceptance of Christ? Why do we still believe we can accomplish what God wants of us without his help? I know it is something we all struggle with every day, I know I do.

So as I prepare to go to training camp and look towards my next fundraising goal, I am focusing on doing all things with God at the forefront of my steps and choices. I do not want to find myself thinking that I can do it alone because I know I cannot. I challenge you to do the same in putting God first. It is not always the easy choice, but I can tell you from experience, it always is the best.

I promise to keep you updated as I go to training camp in October and prepare to launch for the trip in January. Am I getting butterflies in my stomach? Maybe. Do I ever find myself second guessing my choice? Yes. But I know this is where God wants me.

Love y’all and hope y’all have a blessed day!
