Hey ya’ll! (Sorry, girls on my team have me saying ya’ll a lot) Anyways, I just wanted to let ya’ll know what’s been on my mind lately. People have been talking to me a lot about fear. Having fear of the little things, things that shouldn’t be feared. So, I have a question for all of you:
What room does fear have?
Christ did not die for us to have fear. Fear about midterms. Fear of what college you’re going to go to. Fear of the inevitable. What room should fear have in your life when you have hope? Hope that Christ is coming again. Not a fear that He won’t. Christ does not want us to live in fear. When you choose to have strength and to walk by faith there is no room for fear. Christ did not die to leave us. He died for our sins and to show us unfailing love. Sacrificial love. Christ did not die so that we could be dependent on the temporary. Leave the fear of missing out, moving on, or losing someone behind. God has bigger things planned for you. Better things. Where is there room for fear in your life when you step foot out of the darkness and glorify in His light. Where is there room for fear when you look a hopeless situation straight in the eye and say “I AM NOT AFRAID”. You see, I do not stand alone. And neither do you. It is written in the Bible 365 times “Do not be afraid”. 365 TIMES! God is telling us that there is not a day in the year that should be lived in fear.
1 John 5:18 says, “There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear…”
Did you read that? Here, let me type that again… PERFECT LOVE DRIVES OUT FEAR. It’s gone. No more. See ya later.
You’re probably thinking one of three things right now. 1. But Carrington, there’s so many things that can go wrong. 2. Well, (insert tragic event) just happened. Or 3. Come on Carrington, it’s fear. You’re preparing to leave the country for nine months, aren’t you afraid?
Well let me tell you this:
Christ did not die to remove all opposition in our way. He did not die for us to be paralyzed by all of the negative things that happen in our lives. Christ died so that we could live. So that we could live a life of wonder. So that we can experience His love, His graces, His masterpiece.
Hopeless situations come up all of the time: sickness, addiction, death, divorce. They attack us from all angles. Daniel was in a lions den. David was up against a giant. Moses was stuck between an army and a sea. And Gideon had an army of 300 for battle. Do not live in fear because of these situations. Instead, have faith in God that He will guide you and lead you out of these situations. Isaiah 41:10 says “Do not fear: I am with you; do not be anxious: I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand”. He is with us. Everyday, 24/7, 365 days a year. You may think you are alone but He is here. And He will help you through it. Daniel tamed the lion. David defeated Goliath. Moses parted the Red Sea. And Gideon defeated the Midianites without lifting a finger. God works wonders in our seemingly hopeless situations.
You see, God has everything planned out for you. He will guide you through every situation and give you the strength to overcome the obstacles. You just have to set your fear aside and let God take charge.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, it truly means a lot to me. Also, please prayerfully consider partnering with me by clicking the ‘Support Me’ tab so I raise the funds needed to go on this mission trip to Malawi, Guatemala, and Thailand.
God Bless,
Carrington Nicole
I am yours, Jesus. Show me the way, your way. I am not worthy of your graces yet you still are here at my every cry. Grant me the courage to leave fear behind and walk forever towards your love. Grant me the strength to begin again with you at the center of everything I do. I am yours, forever.
Psalms 56:4-5 “when I am afraid, in you I place my trust. I praise the word of God; I trust in God, I do not fear…”
2 Timothy 1:7 “For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather of power and love and self-control.”
Exodus 14: 13-14 “But Moses answered the people, “Do not fear! Stand your ground and see the victory the Lord will win for you today… The Lord will fight for you; you only have to keep still”
Matthew 14:27 “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid”
Psalms 27:1 & 3 “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom should I fear? The Lord is my life’s refuge; of whom should I be afraid? — Though an army encamp against me, my heart does not fear; Though war be waged against me, even then do I trust”
