Time.

Something we all seem to believe we don’t have enough of.

Why is that?

As the months leading to my mission trip become smaller, time has been on my mind. Wanting time to go faster. Time to slow down. Wanting time to be with friends. Time to be alone. Time to meet new people. But one thing I’ve come to realize is that people think they don’t have enough time.

Not enough time to: eat breakfast, go to church, study, work out, hangout, pray. do this. do that. anything!

There’s a quote from Lao Tzu that says “Time is a created thing. To say ‘I don’t have time,‘ is like saying, ‘I don’t want to.‘”

So let’s change that sentence from earlier.

I don’t want to: eat breakfast, go to church, study, work out, hangout, pray.

Now I don’t know about you, but that doesn’t seem like a good way to live life. It has gotten me to think about how I am living my life and I don’t want to be thinking that I don’t have time.

I want to have timeTime for breakfast. Time for exercising. I want time for family, for friends, for church, to pray, and for God.

I don’t want to live my life thinking that I don’t have enough time for things or just simply choosing not to do anything. I want to live a full life for me and for GodA life full of experiences, adventure and “why not“. I don’t want “what if” or “could have been“. I want to live a life with people that push me to try new things and to go out in the world. I want to help people and to teach them about God and to show them love.

God gave you this life to live. SO LIVE IT. Take it in your hand and make the most of it. You have one life. Don’t let anyone hold you back and don’t waste your life on people that “don’t have time” for you. Life is a beautiful thing.

STOP WAITING. Happiness is achieved when you stop waiting for it and making the most of the moment.

Help others. Make time for family. Volunteer at a soup kitchen. Tell people how much they mean to you. Travel. Pray. Hang out with friends. Go to church. Work out. Eat right. Praise God.

“Time” is counting down. 43 days until my birthday. 72 days until my first financial deadline. 91 days until I leave for training camp. 143 days until I leave for Thailand.

So I challenge you to make time. Spend time with family. Read some bible verses. Go to church. Help others. And if God calls you to, help me help others.

Peace be with you and God Bless,

Carrington Nicole Cecilia Herman
