Y’ALL. I am 85% funded already.

This actually INSANELY fast to have raised this much money, and I owe so much gratitude to all of my Wesley family, Alliance family, actual family, and many more people who have donated!

Because I am so close to meeting my goal, I wanted to make a few clarifications about what the money in my World Race account actually goes to, and what happens when I am fully funded. So if you are thinking about donating to me in the next few weeks, please read this carefully!

  • Any money that is donated to my World Race account after I am fully funded automatically goes into the General Fund. There is nothing I can do about this, and donations are pretty much non-refundable. So if you are planning on donating online or by check to Adventures in Missions in order for your donation to be tax-deductible, make sure that I am still not fully funded before you do so!
  • The bar at the top of my blog shows how much I have in my World Race account. I will be checking my account at least once a day to see if new donations have processed so that I can update this bar. If you have made a donation and don’t see it reflected on here, know that it is because it hasn’t been processed and shown up in my account yet. (It can take up to four days for online donations and up to two weeks for checks.)
  • The money in my account covers all of my Race-related expenses. That means it covers travel between countries, food, lodging, and other ground expenses. I will not have direct access to my account at any time. Our team will be given a budget and assign one person to handle all of our finances, and from there we will get our money for all of these essential expenses.
  • I will still need your support after I am fully funded! The $16,000 goal that the World Race sets for us does not include plane tickets to and from training camp (in Atlanta, GA) or to launch (place TBA) and home again once this adventure is over. It also doesn’t cover non-essential items like personal toiletries (still very essential to me), internet time, souvenirs, replacing lost or broken items, or extra adventures my squad might do. Adventures in Missions calls a moderate budget for personal money about $100 a month. That is still $1,100 dollars beyond the funds I need in my account just to go on the World Race. All of this to say, I will actually need several thousand more than what the bar at the top of my blog calls for.
  • Prayer is also an essential need! Join me in praying for this journey. Pray for my squad, my future teammates, my parents, the friends I’m leaving behind, the countries I will be going to, for my relationship with God, for everything. Pray for me and know that if prayer is the only way you feel you can support me, that is more than enough.

And on the topic of the countries I’m going to: my squad had a route change as of this morning! Instead of Moldova, we will be going to Bulgaria, home of Viktor Krum, world-famous Seeker and Triwizard tournament competitor from Durmstrang. Be ready for so many Harry Potter references, people. SO MANY. Needless to say, I am super excited about this change.

Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will have a blog or two up about what is going in my life right now. As it is, I’m trying to graduate from college so I’m a little busy.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported me thus far, and I hope this has been helpful information on what happens when my Race is fully funded. If you are looking for ways to support me, you can click on the “support me” link or check out my previous blog, Fundraising F.A.Q.
