My name is Carrie. I’m 22 years old (but approximately 80 in personality), and I graduated in May 2015 from the University of Texas with degrees in English and Religious Studies.

I’m a Texas girl with a snaggletooth soul and an idealistic bent. I’ve got a mouth like a sailor and strong opinions on just about everything. I try not to take myself too seriously.

I love to read (favorites include Madeleine L’Engle, Marilynne Robinson, and Harry Potter, but the list is so long…) and write. And if you don’t think I have every Taylor Swift album then you are so, so wrong.

I have a great love for Jesus, old hymns, Longhorns football, communion, elephants, cheesecake, and the Kansas City Royals.

I’ve had a built-in best friend for the last eighteen years. My “little” brother Alex is the much cooler half of the Surbaugh siblings.

My parents (Kathy and Greg) are really good at grammar, dealing with middle schoolers, and being awesome.

All in all, your typical feminist church nerd trying to live out of a backpack for a year because Jesus told me to.
