‘So Will I’
Okay, freeze! Before you read anymore, go listen to the song ‘So Will I’ by Hillsong United.
Alright, remember this song and we will get back to it.
Back home in the USA , if you asked me where my favorite place to be was, I would probably say in my bed, in the water somewhere, or at Nana’s house. Though those are still some of my favorite places, my list is growing. I’ve added 3 new ones to my list while being here in Swaziland. All of these places have great views of the sky.
They are:
Lying on the poop deck (huge concrete rectangle that is actually the septic tank).
On top of the shipping container (I don’t think we were really allowed there….oops!).
Lying on the ground in the middle of the driveway (the best view in my personal opinion).
On clear nights, I love to go watch the stars. I’ve learned the later you stay up, the more you see. The clouds kind of disperse and the stars come out. Isn’t it crazy how many stars there are and how far away they are? What’s even crazier is God created them just like He created us and He placed them all in the sky for us to see. When I look at the stars, I am so amazed at how beautiful God’s creation is!
I love watching, listening, and hearing God through the stars…that is my Abba. The One who created the stars, He created me. I’ve watched the stars so long I’ve seen them twinkling. When I see them twinkling, I like to think the stars are praising the Lord.
This is where ‘So Will I’ comes in.
In the song it says…“If the stars were made to worship so will I”. Every star I see is like God saying I love you. The stars are never ending. There are so many. God’s love for us is NEVER ending.
‘So Will I’
I know some people’s views on tattoos. Some people don’t like them, some people love them. I always said I would never get one. I wasn’t about to get a needle repeatedly stuck into me for something to be on me permanently…for life. I absolutely wasn’t about that. But, a few weeks before I launched for the World Race, I got a tattoo on my rib cage. It’s nothing big and in a spot where no one really knows it’s there unless I tell them. Which here I am now, basically telling the world. It reads ‘So Will I’. Yes, it’s from the song I had you listen to in the beginning. However, it’s more to me than just a song.
Some of the lyrics to ‘So Will I’ are, “If the stars were made to worship so will I”. When I see the stars twinkle, I see them worshiping their Creator, my Creator. “If the wind goes where you send it so will I.” I am currently in Africa, on my way to Nepal, basically going where the wind goes – FOR GOD – My God, My Creator. “If creation sings your praises so will I.” The other night there was this crazy huge lightning storm that lasted maybe an hour. The power in that I can only describe as Jesus. “All nature and science follow the sound of your voice.” The same night as the lightning storm a few of my squad mates and I were still up. The sky lit up in this glowing red. We immediately knew what it was, because the same glowing had happened a few evenings before. It was another wild fire. We could tell it was super close to our guys’ Care Point, so Nate started praying over it. Not even a minute later it was gone. I watched this very large fire go out completely, twice in the same week, through the power of prayer. “If you gladly choose surrender so will I.” I have had to and still am surrendering so many things to the Lord for the Race. I’m also learning to do that gladly, because it is super hard sometimes.
There is so much that I am learning and will learn. I can’t wait to share that in the future. In the mean time, go someplace where you can see the stars. The more you look, the more you’ll see. The longer you look, maybe, just maybe, you’ll see them twinkle. Try to count them. There are so many you’ll lose count (I’ve tried). Put on some worship music and just enjoy God’s creation. It’s one of my favorite things to do.
Love,
Your girl,
CG
