Q&A
Hey Ya’ll!
It’s been a while.
I just wanted to give you guys a quick update and answer a few questions everyone seems to ask.
First…..
I have exceeded my first $5,000 deadline! Thank you to all of those who have donated and supported me this far!
I am still fundraising and have just over $10,000 to raise until I’ll be fully funded!
Now, here are the top 10 questions I seem to be asked.
#1 Are you excited?
- Absolutely yes!!! I am extremely excited, not only about traveling, but I am excited to see what the Lord will do in my life while I am on this trip!
#2 How much money do you have to raise in total? What does that cover?
- $15,800. $15,800 will cover food, travel, lodging, and insurance while I am gone.
#3 What will you take with you?
- I will take a sleeping bag, tent, clothes, chargers, Bible, enough earbuds for 9 months, you know… all the essentials. Everything I take will have to fit in a hiker’s pack that weighs no more than 45 pounds.
#4 Are you scared?
- The definition of scared is frightened or fearful. So, no, I wouldn’t say that I am scared. A little nervous maybe. I believe God placed me on this route for a reason and I just have to trust Him with it. I know there will probably be times where I am scared, just because I will be so far out of my comfort zone. I have found that when I am out of my comfort zone, I have no other choice but to lean on God. I love it so much!
#5 When will you leave?
- Well, first I will have training camp for 10 days in July. I will officially leave in September. I will go to Atlanta on either the 8th or 9th (I should find that out at training camp.) and as of right now, fly out date is September 12th.
#6 What do you think your biggest challenge will be?
- I think my biggest challenge will be being away from my family and friends. I’ve never done life without them, so 9 months away will be pretty difficult. Also packing for 9 months in a 45-pound pack. I’m a girl who loves her shoes and I can‘t take them all with me.
#7 How many people are going with you? Do you know any of them?
- There will be about 50 of us who will travel from country to country together. Once we are in country we will break up into smaller groups. No, I don’t really know any of them. We are all in a group message, so we are starting to get to know each other a little bit that way. Everyone in my squad is from all over the US, so we will all officially meet at training camp in July!
#8 Is this a first step into long term missions, or will you go to school when you return?
- As of right now, when I return from Gap Year, I plan on going to nursing school. I could potentially take nursing anywhere in the world. Now I may come back with a totally different plan, but as of right now that is what I am looking at.
#9 Where are you most excited to serve?
- I am excited about each country for different reasons.
- Swaziland: I have always wanted to go to Africa.
- Nepal: Nepal was added to my route after I had chosen it, but there is such a need for Jesus there. You can go watch David Platt’s video about it and it will leave you in tears.
- India: The Indian culture is super intriguing. I can’t wait to learn more about it!
- Guatemala: Guatemala is super close to El Salvador (home of my first mission trip) and I love papusas. I don’t know if I can get those in Guatemala, but I’ll be close!
#10 What can people at home do to help while you are overseas?
- Pray for me!
- Pray for my team!
- Pray for my family!
- Pray for the people we will be serving and sharing the Gospel with!
- Contact me by email, Facebook, or What’s App! I’m going to want to hear from ya’ll. I will not always have wi-fi and it may be a bit before I receive your messages, but it will be wonderful to read them when I am able to connect.
Your girl,
Carrie Grace
