My Baby Queso

Started writing 10-23-18

This is my Swazi baby, his name isn’t really Queso. His real name I can’t pronounce and have no idea how to spell so we nicknamed him Queso.  He is 3 years old.  This little boy is at my care point so I get to see him 4 days a week! The first week we went to our care point (maba 2) He was kind of scared of us and cried when we tried to pick him up or talk to him.  One day during our second week at Maba 2 he fell asleep, so obviously I had to hold him.  Once he woke up and he realized I was holding him he was good! We’ve been going to Maba 2 for a while now and everyday when he sees me as he’s walking around the corner he smiles sooo big and waddle runs to me.

Queso takes a nap every afternoon right after lunch and I get to hold him ( I love it so much). When he goes to sleep he’s out.. like you can pass him around to 4 different people and he’ll never know. The first day I can remember him actually walking up to me, we were picking up trash around Maba 2.  I have a trash bag in one hand and I’m picking up trash with the other and here comes little Queso crying, but walking over to me. There was a crying baby so of course I’m going to pick the kid up.  That day I learned how to balance a 2 year old on my back while holding a trash bag and still picking up trash.

Things to know about Queso:
-The entire time I’ve been here I’ve only seen him wear maybe 3 shirts.
-Last week we roll up at Maba 2 and here he comes, waddling around the corner and all the sweet baby has on was a shirt. No shoes (which is normal) no pants.. nothin but his shirt.
-Apparently its normal to let your baby walk around pant-less because we saw 7 pant-less babies that day.
-Queso can eat more rice and beans then I can.
-He loves to make funny faces and weird noises.
-My baby loves to be held and I like to think I’m his favorite napping spot.

Over my time here in Swaziland Queso has kind of become my baby. Today 11-14-18 he was the gigglyist most happy baby. He had clothes and shoes on. We got to the care point late today so he was already there. When I got off the bus he started jumping up and down with this beautiful smile. my little heart isn’t ready for the day I’ll have to say good bye.

Here I am December 17. I had to say goodbye to my baby about 3 weeks ago and I miss him like crazy. If I could have I would have brought him with me but unfortunately I
couldn’t.

Please keep Queso and all of his little friends at Maba 2 in your prayers.

Until next time
