Laying here in an escape for alone time, I see a plane fly by and my mind instantly wanders to how far mankind has come. It amazes me that geometrically speaking, the distance traveled on a plane is farther than a distance traveled on land, yet takes significantly less time.

How did we come up with that?

It’s crazy, right?

I can only imagine God looking down on us to see how we have used the minds he has given us to engineer absolutely outstanding technology. I mean, he would be so happy if we had absolutely nothing and just delighted in him. Not to say that we do not still do that, but it seems that it would be so much more convenient to soak in the glory of our Lord when we have nothing getting in the way of that. We can strive for minimalism and seek abandonment from materialism all day long, but the technologies of this world make life so much easier.

How can we resist?

So I take advantage of it and strive instead to praise him through it all. Golly, for real, PRAISE HIM that I have the privilege of seeing some of the most beautiful places and things on this planet that he made. I couldn’t do that on my own. I needed the Wright brothers to invent that wonderful machine to take me to marvelous sights. I don’t think God’s mad to see how we have advanced. After all, it is putting great minds to use and that’s completely from him.

My hope is only to encourage others to find the beauty in what has been given to us by God, the ultimate inventor.
