So many of you know me pretty well… The people that know me the best know that I am one of the lightest sleepers in the world… SO tell me how this happened…
The second to last night in Rwanda started out to be a normal night of the race. Each and every month, there is a time at the end of the month that we all are having to say our goodbyes. This, as I have told you before, is not one of my favorite parts of the race. It is such a sad part of the race; having to say goodbye to people that I have loved so much over the month's time.
After spending time with the family, taking pictures, and lots of hugs, we went to bed like any other night… Well, I wake up at about 5 am and I see that my computer is not on the table next to our mattress… So, I think did the boys come in and borrow the computer while we were sleeping. So strange… Then, I notice that the door to our bedroom was open… It is quiet in the house… So, I get up and go and check if anyone is up yet… No!
Hmm… Well, I check the doors and they are all still shut and looked from the inside. I head back to my room and notice two things at the same time… First, my day pack is open and next to the door of the bedroom. Second, my phone is not laying next to my pillow like I always sleep with it there.
Then, it all clicks… We were robbed!! I turn on the lights and wake the other girls up to tell them that my things are missing… Two of the other girls realized that their entire day packs were missing as well.
Someone broke into the house while we were all sleeping. They used a tire jack to bend the bar back on the window. Then, came into our room and took our stuff. So scary… But the crazy thing is that no one woke up. The door to our room made a lot of noise every time it opened… Normally, I would alwaya woke up at night whenever this door moved…
God, our loving and protective Father, was watching over us that night. I truly believe that He made us all stay asleep so that we were all safe. If we would have woke up when they were in the room with us we could have been hurt… Thankfully, our Father protects his daughters!
Material things are not important… They can always be replaced… God understands and knows that we are the ones that cannot be replaced… He cherishes what is important and we are what He values!
