11 things I learned in Honduras:

  1. Baby bunnies aren't cute.
  2. Frosted Corn Flakes and Fruit Loops (combined, not separate) might make my top 10 favorite breakfasts ever.
  3. Water pressure isn't necessary, but it sure is nice to be able to flush your poop on the first try.
  4. When you can't find a bus, just hop on the back of a huge flat bed truck!
  5. Don't eat more than 2 pupusas (delicious cheese-filled corn tortillas) or you just might have to spend some quality time in the smelly co-ed bathroom
  6. It's possible (but extremely difficult) to eat beans and rice for every lunch in a month. I might've gagged one afternoon at the end of the month…
  7. Authentic Honduran food is just weird. Not bad, just weird.
  8. Espresso Americano is WAY better than Starbucks.
  9. The Lord cherishes our prayers and our tears- especially when we're persistent and patient.
  10. Loving people and having fun doesn't require words. Even a deaf & mute person can have a significant impact on your life.
  11. Your identity and your worth has NOTHING to do with what you do or what you're good at.

On a more serious note, at the end of our time in Honduras we had a 24-hour prayer thing with our whole squad. It was a come-and-go thing, and I ended up staying for the majority of the day for a variety of reasons that I won't get into. The Lord spoke to me a few times during that, and I wanted to share one of the times He spoke with you all because I think it can be beneficial for you and it really shows where I'm at right now spiritually and emotionally:

Oh my daughter, I am pleased with you. Remember that you are human- I created you that way. I know your desires- spiritual, emotional, and physical. You don't have to be Superwoman. You don't have to grow all at once- you are in time, so of course it's going to take time. Oh, Carrie, I LOVE you. I love how you've been seeking me. Keep seeking me, keep asking me to show up- I love the invitations! Keep thanking Me in advance for showing up- that shows great faith in me.

Like I said the other day, I have something for you this next month. Don't look for it. That is, don't try to guess it. Expect it. This next month will be difficult in a different way. You will see even more of my heart. You will be filled with painful compassion for my daughters who have been used, abused, and sold time and time again- and you will minister to them in My Name.

Stop seeking recognition from others. I see you, is that not enough? I want you to be COMPLETELY free of distractions. Enjoy the presence of your brothers and sisters on this squad, but ENJOY ME MORE! Seek lower and lower positions- they don't need to like you, see you, or approve of you for you to be precious, blessed, pure, lovely, etc. in My sight.

Carrie, you are beautiful. Your love is beautiful. I named you Carrie Grace for a reason. You carry and pour out my GRACE on ALL those around you. Not of your own strength, but only because I choose to. I DELIGHT in you, sweet daughter. I love when you come to my throne and ask me to come into your life in greater ways. I love it when you intercede for your brothers and sisters. My spirit is IN you. I am healing your family in GLORIOUS ways- practice thanking me in advance for it! Watch for it like the watchman waits for dawn!

Oh, Carrie, thank you for seeking me. Thank you for trusting me, for thanking me, for choosing me. It blesses my heart! Yes, YOU bless ME! Believe it!

Are you ready to fly??

Carrie, you think you are desperate for more of me- you are not nearly as desperate as you will be. Your hunger for me will only increase. You will know more and more how deep your need for Me goes. I show up when I am most needed- and usually unexpectedly. Trust that I will and that My timing is perfect. I long to show more of Myself to you- WAIT FOR ME.

Shake yourself from the dust and ARISE!!

There's really no great way for me to sum this blog. Maybe two words is all I need to describe my current state: Blessed and Hungry.

I love the Lord because He has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. Because He inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call on Him as long as I live… Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; our God is merciful. The Lord preserves the simple; when I was brought low, He saved me. Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling; I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living. Psalm 116: 1-2, 5-9
