Pass times any one? Perhaps a lovely Saturday morning at the crack of dawn, filling your pockets with handfuls of coin and sauntering off for the hunt at hand.
That's right my friends, I am talking yard sales.
Who knew mixing a past time and the fundraising task at hand would be a fabulous unity. With countless people so willing to do some summer cleaning, my 'Traveling Yard Sale' in Chatham and London had an over whelming response. The starting point of Chatham filled a barn to the brim. We suited up bright and early two Saturday mornings ago, in our matching Carrie Dawson faced t-shirts and got our selling faces on. As we set up and unpacked I realized we didn't have anything to be putting this money in… Nonsense says The Man upstairs. My sister pulls out a cash register drawer in the donations.
Brilliant God, Brilliant.
Wheeling and dealing we raised (literally for me) a jaw dropping $1000. I could honestly say I was absolutely blown away. I can just see God with a little smirk on His face saying 'oh ye of little faith.' Round two in London pulled off a handsome $550. Not too shabby if I do say so myself, since I had to replenish my stock for the Londoners. I have included (hopefully I figured it out this time…) a picture of my Chatham crew. Please note , or perhaps you will clearly see we were not ready for this picture but it's all I have 🙂
I was also able to get all my fundraising support letters and prayer cards thanks to the generous donation from Dave and Minute Man Press in London. He did all my printing and even surprised me with an awesome banner/poster for my fundraisers. Truly an incredible blessing, I fully endorse this man!!
Now I am working on the next big thing. My September 29th deadline of $3500 is fast approaching and I currently have almost $2500 raised. It is absolutely amazing to see God at work and seeing things unfold. I am praying for continual reminders that His got this and that He keeps doors open that He wants open and closes the ones He wants closed. Acting in obedience is all I need to remember.
