Have you eaten rice today?
It’s a greeting that shows your concern for the persons welfare.
.
We are now in Thailand! And by we i mean my new team, The Groovy Crew.
During our last days in Cambodia, our squad all got shuffled into new teams.
Leadership usually does this at least once during the race to see us expand our growth; both sharing what we have learned with others, and allowing us to walk out what we have learned so far.
.
So here i am in Thailand…and to be honest there is grieving i am still doing over leaving Cambodia (because i loved it) and also ending my time as part of team “Agua Viva” (because i loved it too).
.
What does this month have in store for us?
We will be working on helping get more of the church building of our host built, (there is a large downstairs portion that we have leveled and are now covering with sand so a cement foundation can be poured! – This has produced sore bodies and not a few blisters among us…), we are teaching english in the evenings to a group of students who have moved out of the mountains to live in our village in order to attend the school, and we will be traveling some days to outlaying villages to do some medical care and evangelism.

One morning we went to a rubber farm to help remove wrongly installed taps in a nearby village. Thankfully we were able to quickly help get done hours of needed work!
.
I decided during dinner tonight that i needed some Bible before i posted this weeks blog, because with all the traveling to Thailand and all the new scheduling and figuring each day out this last week i just haven’t been as intentional with my scripture reading as i wish i had been.
Todays the 9th, so i decided to read Psalms 9 and Proverbs 9.
.
I’ve read both before, but tonight when i read thru proverbs 9 i saw something i hadn’t before.
I hope as i share, you are encouraged:
In this chapter there are two characters, Wisdom and Folly,
Wisdom is busy preparing a meal, so she sends her maids out to call out in the city,
“Let all who are simple come in here!” She is calling to whoever lacks judgement. “Come eat my food and drink the wine i have mixed!”
Meanwhile, Folly sits right outside her own door waiting for whoever passes by walking in their own way.
“Let all who are simple come in here!” She is calling to whoever lacks judgement. “Stolen water is sweet! Food eaten in secret is delicious!”
Wisdom promises in verse 6 and 11 that she will give life.
Verse 18 says that little do hearers know that the dead fill Folly’s house.
That her house is a grave.
.
Verse 13 warns that the way of Folly is loud, undisciplined, and without knowledge.
.
Verse 10 says that if you don’t fear God you have not even begun to be wise.

I sit in KFC, having eaten a spicy asian chicken rice bowl with weird seaweed stuff, and i think about what this means in my own life.
And about Jesus’ promise that He came to bring life, and that abundantly. (John 10:10)
And I think of what Psalms 9 says: i will praise you O Lord and tell of all your wonders…i will proclaim among the nations what you have done.
