2G wifi. The sun is setting, people are celebrating the day well spent in a pool swept till the blisters popped. Argentinian friends flip into the water fully dressed besides Americans who have sweated and laughed and eaten alongside them for one whole week. And we are grateful as the sun sets. Wet and grateful grinning against the cold while unshed tears of happiness and mingled sadness warm our hearts: this is friendship. Missing out on a Thanksgiving we are only beginning to understand. Sleeping besides new siblings who mumble in their sleep a language only those in the conversation know. Awaiting the next weigh in of our bags; both our hearts and the ones we bought with sacrificial money. And this is the life they say, but we are the ones living it. Fearing lice or other pains. Like sharing how someone has hurt us and feeling petty for doing so. Saying sorry for everything, just in case. And hearing how we are the way we are – and having to sort out what is true and what is not. This is the life. At Jesus feet weeping till we cant think anymore, because no one except Him could even begin to understand. If anyone could it would only be Him. And this is the life. Pulling someone elses hair from the drain so that the next person doesnt have to. Pulling the tissue from the used tank so the next person can use it. And washing your clothes by hand. This is the life. The life we are trying to gain so everything else but He and i can be abandoned. So love can be real and walk on our two legs, in our two shoes. So our tear stained cheeks can touch anothers, with nothing to lose and everything to gain. Without pride or fear. This is the life. His life, we seek. The eternal breath that makes us smile while we do things we never hoped to do and while we live a dream we never thought we could. This is the life. #aguaviva #inupandout
