Month 5 – Japan

Japan was a month of many changes. Most of my time was spent training for my new position as Squad Leader, but we still managed to have a little fun too 🙂  Since “training” isn’t the most exciting subject to take pictures of, below is a little glimpse into our daily life and fun outings in Japan.

Land of the Rising Sun

U-Squad Alumni Squad Leaders, Zach and Hailey

Riding a ferris wheel in downtown Osaka!

During a day of ATL we went on a prayer walk through this beautiful Japanese Temple

Kyoto, Japan! A beautiful little town filled with traditional Japanese architecture dating back to the 10th century

We spent an afternoon praying and worshipping in the park.  We wrote our struggles on rocks and then threw them into the river!

Our favorite ramen noodle restaurant!

Skinniest house ever! Only about 8ft wide – the Japanese are very efficient with their land

Team Same Same But Different hosted an amazing 24-hour prayer event.  These are the names of everyone on the squad – all of which were prayed over continually during the event.

We attended a Mochi Festival! Mochi is a traditional Japanese desert made from pounded rice.

Crying Japanese baby face = so cute!

Zach’s Japanese grandma and neighbor.  She cooked for us, insisted on doing our laundry and visited us daily.  Zach will be in good hands with her around 🙂

Church service at Crossroads.  So blessed to have met this amazing community!

The train was our main mode of transportation around Osaka

The trains are so clean you could practically eat off the floor!

Rotating sushi bar!!  Best sushi of my life!

Hiking up the mountain!

We ate the famous, certified Kobe Beef in Kobe, Japan!

….but then we stuff our faces at McDonalds because we could only afford 2.5 ounces of Kobe beef!

Dan, Addison, Will and Kyle got the squad pumped up at debrief with a hilarious skit!

Having some fun and being weird at debrief!

Yay! Trent is a Squeader now too!!

Zach saying his goodbye speech – he has been an incredible blessing to this squad for our first 5 months in Asia.  Japan is lucky to have him!

This was the last time all the Squeaders (alumni and newbies) were together! Love these people!

I’ve been so blessed by the overwhelming amount of support I have received.  I am now over 90% funded, but still have over $1,000 left to raise before our final deadline in just a few short weeks!  I ask that you will please prayerfully consider supporting me financially so I don’t have to come home from this amazing journey prematurely.
