I’ve always heard people say “I’m too blessed to be stressed.” Throughout the last 6-7 months, I’ve been thinking about how the opposite “too stressed to be blessed” can be true, too. I guess it should be, “too stressed TO NOTICE I’m blessed,” but the other one sounds better, so work with me here!

Think about it, I’m sure there have been times in your life where you were so stressed, anxious, or preoccupied with something that you weren’t appreciating or even noticing all the blessings in your life! It’s kind of life changing when you think about it. At least it was for me.

For the past few months, that’s been my life. I’ve been too stressed to be blessed. I was looking at fundraising from the big picture point of view. That’s kind of who I am – someone who plans ahead and looks at the big picture. In other words I was looking at the $18,000 total that I need to raise, so when I raised my first $1,000 it wasn’t very exciting for me, because that just meant I still had to raise $17,000 MORE. What a negative way to look at life!

A few weeks ago, I began to notice how I wasn’t very thankful of the money that had already been raised. I was thankful to a certain extent, but not to the degree that I should have been. Thankfully, this realization helped me see how ungrateful I was being! Since then, I’ve been able to totally change my outlook! Everything is a blessing…big donations, small donations, EVERYTHING! I mean I’ve already met my first fundraising goal of $5,000 before it was due! How much of a blessing is that??!!

It’s changed my life outside of fundraising, too. I’ve come to realize how many things in my day to day life that I’ve been completely overlooking. I’m happy to say: I’m too blessed to be stressed! So, this is me inviting you to turn your thinking around. Change the way you look at life, turn that frown upside down, and take the time to notice all the little & big blessings in your life.
