I just wanted to make a list of some things that I have seen or done here in Zambia. These are things that could possibly happen in the USA…but they don’t usually.
- For some reason it never occurred to me to try this in the US, but going into random hotels (where I am not staying) just to drink coffee and get free wifi.
- Preaching in a cornfield until the sweating got too bad. And a random guy who stumbled upon me mid-Ephesians gave me a boiled peanut and invited us to preach at his house.
- I didn’t know that you could fit 27 people in the back of a pick-up truck….but I guess you can.
- Having the students chase a chicken out of my classroom.
- Almost missing the Zebra on the side of the road whilst debating prices with the driver of the taxi.
- Bargaining my laundry hand-washing skills for massages, money, chocolate, nail polish, and favors. It pays to have fabric softener…
- Walking to the market for ice cream but after no luck returning with a package of weave which I convinced my teammate to braid in my hair.
- The highlights of the week are visiting the Pizza Hut and a store that has Yankee Candles to smell, playing cards with the family, making baby clothes and curtains on the sewing machine, kicking the bottle around the yard with neighborhood kids, and accidently singing with the praise team during the post-youth-group worship practice.
