Jingle Bells in Hindi.

Cool things I’ve learned this month:

On New Year’s in Panama, it is customary to cook and eat a whole fish, as well as twelve grapes (with seeds) at midnight. We’re not sure why about the fish, possibly because Panama has so much access to water, but as for the grapes, you get one wish per grape as you eat them.
It is a Philippiano tradition to serve a meal at midnight, an Indian tradition to watch fireworks and eat Indian food, and an American tradition to drink some kind of bubbly at midnight. As you might have guessed, we celebrated in all of these ways with Joshua and his family. It was so much fun. We set off sparklers and lit paper lanterns. We ate massive amounts of food and didn’t get home until 3 a. m. Needless to say, we’re all ready to come back and do it again next year.

I can now sing Jingle Bells in three different languages – English, Spanish (sort of), and Hindi. See lyrics above.

I’m getting strangely comfortable flying by the seat of my pants, even for me. It’s those last few minutes before an event when God asks you to change all of the words you were about to speak. Please see that passage in Luke again.

In India on a birthday, the first piece of cake is cut, then one bite is served to the birthday guy/girl. After that, they hand serve one bite of their cake to each member of their family.

We can fit at least 6 people in a taxi not including the driver; here’s proof.

We have learned that the proper way to move a sloth is to paralyze it by grabbing it at the base of the neck or allowing it to grab onto a branch. We do this in order to move sloths out of the way (out of the road/out of bodies of water) because otherwise they will get tired and die.

Sea turtles love selfies and sea cucumbers feel slimy, Seeing frogs sing (or the kind we were looking at) is very rare, but we saw it.

You can fit 8 world racers and all of their stuff in a 12×14 room.

Sometimes all you need is a breakfast burrito.

Sometimes the reason it’s called a water closet is because sometimes the bathroom comes in a closet.

Those are a couple fun facts, hope you enjoyed. This might be the last update this side of the pond.

Much love,
