"My grandfather was a witch doctor"…
These were the words one of my favorite people I have encountered on the race said to me, a pastor from Malaysia. I sat there in awe as he told me his story, his testimony. I could never do justice to his actual words, but I figured retelling the story through a blog might encourage someone so here it is…
Once upon a time there lived a tribe of head hunters in Malaysia. This group of people were natives, and lived in Sarawat in jungles. At that time if a young man wanted to Marry a woman he had to go see her father and pay a bride price.
You know what that was?
Two fresh heads. Yes 2 human heads, hence their tribe being head hunters.
Side bar: ladies don't settle! Now a days a guy barely opens our doors and we give him the goods. These guys had to go to the ends of the earth to marry a woman.lol I have actually decided that the bride price for any guy trying to pursue me will be he needs to bring 2 people to Christ before hand.lol
Anyway, one day a group of young missionaries decided to go and visit the tribe of head hunters, an act of obedience. They traveled through the jungle for days to reach the village. It was an act of bravery, but because they believed the GOD they served was that powerful they went unafraid and unashamed.
When they got there they shared the Gospel with the village leaders, and guess what happened?
The whole tribe came to Christ.
The whole tribe as in 64,000 people.
Yes you read that correct 64,000 people to the LORD!
And now that tribe is solely Christians, all believers passed down from generation to generation. To this day they are still known as head hunters, yes head hunters for Christ, they hunt souls for the LORD.
Because of their willingness to GO and be unafraid these people know the LORD. I heard this story and thought man, what have i done today for the LORD? I sure haven't won over a tribe for His Glory. But I believe this is how ever believer should live. Live as if your life matters little, and the light of eternity with the Father matters much! Live as if people's lives matter and you have a job to do. We have all been put on this earth for one purpose, to Glorify GOD, some of us choose to follow that, some of us don't.
But the choice is yours…
