It has been one week since training camp ended. The best 10 days of my life. Training camp was challenging, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
Heres a quick summary as to what we did at training camp!
- We camped, the entire time. Which, was actually awesome.
- We had no mirrors, except the small dirty ones on the portable potty doors.
- We were given different simulations; one night half of our squad (ME) “lost our luggage at the airport” so we had to figure out sleeping arrangements for that night. I slept in a hammock. Going to Georgia I thought it would be warm, but no, it was actually freezing!
- We had to complete a timed fitness hike, happy to say that all of us made it in time
- Community living
- All we had were bucket showers, we all pushed how long we could go without a shower because it was cold and we only had cold water.
- We worshipped for hours and it was amazing
- We learned a little bit more about our roles on our teams and what we will be doing in Colombia (read to the end and you’ll find out!!)
- We went out one day to do door to door evangelism in Gainesville
- We kind of dominated in squad wars, but ultimately we just had so much fun together. (Video of our first place squad wars dance below)
These are my people. I never knew what real community felt like until I met them. We fight for one another, we love on one another, we PRAY for one another, we push one another, we are vulnerable with one another, and we are united together.
We have 1 mentor – Teresa.
We have 4 coaches
We have 4 squad leaders
And 40 of us !!
They split us up into 6 teams, 2 guys teams and 4 girls teams. This is my team, Young Royalz. Because we are daughters of the King, and we have the greatest inheritance waiting for us. I was asked to be Team Leader and I am so excited to pour into each and every one of these girls and have a sisterhood that will not be broken.
From left to right we have Sammiera, Emilie, Kylie, Nicole, (me) Lauren, and Katie!
These girls are so unique and they each bring such a beautiful quality to the team.
In Colombia, we will be working alongside a homeless ministry and an addiction ministry. This will be an all squad month so all of us will be together!
Stay tuned for a more in depth post about training camp and what I learned!
