And that’s exactly what it has done
My team arrived in Tacloban, Philippines on Wednesday afternoon. We were greeted with rain and it has been pouring ever since. Our hosts say that it started even before we came.
When we got to this town, my team and I joked that the rain wouldn’t be stopping before we leave at the end of the month. Now, we honestly aren’t sure when the rain will stop.
This month we are serving with KIM, Kids International Ministries. A ministry whose main hope is to serve the kids of the communities that they are in, whether that be through providing meals, housing them in children’s and women’s homes, or helping in clinics.
A huge part of our ministry this month is doing feedings around the city, in villages and at local schools. Feedings take place twice a day, every week day and then once on Saturdays. All together, the ministry serves 10 schools and 1 village.
The kicker is, because of all the rain, which is a result of a typhoon, it’s not safe for the kids to actually attend school, so for the past two days we have been going to feedings in the local villages instead.
It’s been rad, to say the least and I have loved it so much and I am stoked to get to continue doing it.
Today we went to a village that was about an hour away, the farthest place that my team and I will travel to do feedings.
What we saw on the way was heartbreaking. There is so much water that the rice fields are being destroyed by oceans of water and houses are flooding, some are at least ankle deep.
Please pray for the Philippines, and more specifically Tacloban city.
That the rain would subside and people can go back to daily life.
That they would feel a blanket of peace that we know only the Father can provide.
That they would be able to seek safety and shelter in the midst of the storm.
And most importantly that they would find rest in the Father’s embrace, as he is ultimate protector.
