In my bible study last night, we studied the story of David and “walking by faith.” This story is one that most of us heard when we were children.  In Sunday school we were taught that a boy named David defeated a giant named Goliath with just a sling and a stone.

As we read and talked about David and Goliath, I realized just how much faith and courage David had.  This young boy did what none of the soldiers had the courage to do.  And he did it by completely trusting that God would protect him and provide for him.

David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.  All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.” -1 Samuel 17:45-47

David had no doubts that God would protect him.  He stepped out in faith to face the giant that was challenging his God’s strength.  He showed confidence in the Lord and great courage.  He walked by faith.

As I prepare for the World Race, I want to have faith like David.  Faith that God will provide the financial support that I need.  Faith that God will keep my squad safe and protect us as we travel in foreign countries.  Faith that I will be able to handle all the struggles that come with leaving my friends, family, and everyday comforts.  Faith that God will qualify me to be His hands and feet in 11 different countries.

My next step in being faithful to God and trusting Him is starting my fundraising efforts.  As of yesterday I have started sending out support letters!  These letters will give you a better idea of what I will be doing, why I am doing it, and how you can be apart of my journey!  If you would like me to send you a letter, please send me your address. (Private message me on Facebook, email me at [email protected], or text me at (612)423-5440.)

Fundraising is one of the most difficult things for me to have complete faith in, but I know that our God is a God that provides and I am choosing to be like David and walk by faith.

With Love,

Carly
