As launch approaches, it had become very apparent to me that by going on the World Race I will be giving up so many things.
I am giving up a year with my friends and family and fostering those relationships. I’m giving up having an actual bed and room to call my own. I’m giving up warm showers. I’m giving up the salary that I could be earning by getting a job with my new degree. I’m giving up serving in the Dominican Republic like I have the last four years. I’m giving up the chance to support my mom while she battles breast cancer. And so much more.
The truth is, I’m really sad about giving up all these things and I often wonder why I signed up for this in the first place. Why do I want to leave my family and friends? Why do I want to leave my perfectly comfortable life here in America? Is going on the World Race really worth it? Is God really worth it?
Then God sweetly whispers to me “Carly, look what I gave up for you.”
He gave up Jesus for me! If He was able to give up his only son for me, I can surely give up my comfort, my money, and my relationships for Him! He is so worth it!
God has called me to this amazing opportunity to be an ambassador for Him around the World! I get to focus 100% of my time on His Kingdom and His children while spreading His love! How amazing is that?!
Even though I will still have doubts along the way, I know that everything I am giving up is nothing compared to what He gave up for me! I also know that He will provide for me and my squad and that nothing is to big for Him!
