This is the story of Pastor Davies Banda, the founder of God at Work for Kids. He shared with a teammate and I that prior to starting this organization, he was living on the streets. He went day by day not even knowing what he would eat. Then, out of all of his despair and cries out for a change, He heard from the Lord. Davies knew that he had a passion for children and felt that God was telling him to help the youth on the streets and give them a home and food to eat. He knew what Jesus had done in his life and how He had called him by name and called him out of the lifestyle he was living. He wanted to reach out to the orphans and those who had run away from home and share Jesus with them as well.

Pastor Banda currently houses around 57 children from the ages of 1-18. He has 5 kids of his own and lives right next to the orphanage. The orphanage is able to send each child to a private school, as well as hold bible studies and cultivate an environment of love.

This month we had the privilege to go and visit God at Work for Kids and hang out with some of the kids. Davies is so, so passionate about his mission and hopes to expand it into a self-sustaining organization. He is thankful for everything God has done to provide and is extremely excited to hopefully partner with us one day. He is needing a lot of help with construction, cleaning, evangelism and teaching the children about Jesus. Here are some pictures from the visit:

I am so incredibly inspired by this man and his heart for children. His trust in God is something I aspire to have and I am blessed to have met a man like this. His ministry needs monthly supporters. There are only 3 bedrooms for 57 children and they do not have as much food to eat as they would like for the kids. There are at least 5-6 children sleeping on one mattress in a very crowded room. Davies had someone very generous donate a large amount of land to his organization, but he does not have the money to start building on it yet. His vision is to have a garden, culinary school and larger living accommodations for the children at GAWFK. He is in the process of setting up a PayPal account and figuring all of the logistics out of a website, but please keep him and his ministry in your prayers! He truly is an unsung hero.

*I am still $3500 away from being fully funded. Please prayerfully consider donating. Love you all!
