…so funny thing we took off in LA on Sept. 11th…flew 14 hours over the Pacific Ocean and landed in Hong Kong at 4am on Sept. 13th. Where’d the 12th go? Did we lose it somewhere over the ocean? Time zones are such a fascinating thing to me…
Surprisingly the flight over went very quickly…we had lots of amenities including tons of movie options and friends episodes to watch…breakfast was fantastic and I’m feeling very well rested!
God already has been speaking lots to me about listening to people’s stories…our stories are powerful things. Many times we grow up thinking that we need all the facts down and all the knowledge of Jesus in order to make a difference in the kingdom…true we do need to have some knowledge…but we also need to be able to tell our “story” or our journey with Jesus…someone can argue the facts with you all day…but they cannot argue your story…they can’t tell you that your story is “wrong” or “right”….
Yesterday in the LA airport we sat and talked with a very nice couple from India. The husband was an author of a book about Hinduism. He talked with us for several minutes about all the knowledge he had of Jesus and all the knowledge he had about Christianity (and what was “wrong” with it)…but it was clear he’d never encountered the person of Jesus as God’s one and only Son- the Savior of the world.
I walked away from the conversation grateful to have met this family, and desiring to pray that he keep seeking, but not just more head knowledge, seeking to meet Jesus face-to-face and find out what it means to “know him” in his heart…not just his head…
Hadn’t even left the country and already God has been using us…I’m so excited to see what’s in store next.
We’ll be leaving for Manilla, Philippines very soon and meet up with the rest of our teams on Monday…I can hardly wait to see all of my teammates again and to continue in this journey!
