Okay, so it wasn't really a one night stand, but I figured that title would lure you in…

I forget how much fun travel days can be. As well as how good the favor of the Lord truly is. Let me bring those two things together for ya.

My coworker, Tim, and I were in route from Atlanta to Romania where we would join T squad for their first week on the World Race (woot woot!). We were on a separate flight from the squad, which included a 5 hour layover in Paris. Now, Tim and I were getting pretty ambitious sitting in the Atlanta airport waiting for our flight. We were intensly researching the opportunities of exploration our 5 hours would allow us, realizing that it would also be incredibly risky. We prayed for the Lord's favor to let us see at least something in Paris, because ya never know when you'll be back, right?! RIGHT!

So, we land in Paris. And conveniently enough, there are complications with Tim's ticket. Wonderful. The good news, though, was that we had to go through customs to get to the arrivals part of the airport. What up to another stamp in my passport!! We stepped outside of the airport for five minutes to breathe the smoky, French air… and so that we could at least say we'd been outside of the airport (which is technically true, people!). Then we began the oh-so-glorious process of working out problems in international airports. Oh the French. Long story short, they give Tim a standby ticket and we make our way to the gate hoping for the best. We were sad we were not able to have our extraordinary adventure, but there's always hope for another time.

Once at the gate we discover that not only does Tim not have an assigned seat, the flight is also overbooked. Perfect. We didnt want to split up so I volunteered to give up my seat so we both could catch the next flight to Bucharest, Romania the following morning. So you know what that means, people?!

WE GOT A FREE NIGHT IN PARIS COURTESY OF AIR FRANCE! HOLLER!!!

They set us up with a hotel, meals, and 75 euro. Awesome. So once Tim and I checked in the hotel and had eaten dinner, we booked it to the center of Paris and explored the city between the hours of 10pm-2am. Yeah, we're night crawlers. Even though I'm sure the city is even more beautiful during the day, it was pretty epic to see at night. Not to mention it was completely free.

What started out as crushed hopes turned into answered prayers of favor from the Lord and one crazy adventure! When I got back to my hotel room I was overwhelmed with thankfulness for this sweet gift our Father had given us. He blew our expectations out of the water and blessed us more than we could ask for. He's pretty good, ya know?

Thanks for all your prayers as this crazy adventure continues! Hoping to post more updates soon!!
