This is going to be a long entry because there is so much to share about my past week. For the last 4 years I've spent a week being a counselor at my church's ministry for foster children called Royal Family Kids Camp.
On Saturday night I realized that my mind has been so focused on this WR that I wasn't ready camp this year. I was also worried that I would be out of commission from fundraising for a week and my first deadline had yet to be made. So at about 9:00 that night I hit my knees and prayed. It was so important that I be able to be present for these kids who deserved my love 100%. I also prayed for a reassuring sign that this mission trip is exactly where God wants me to be.
Sunday morning I arrived early to the church so I could try selling my threads of hope and to give out flyers for Monday's Chick-fil-a night. Tons of people bought bracelets! Then out of no where my pastor tells us that he was stirred to change today's sermon. Instead of preaching on the heaven series, he preached on adventures. Going the distance for our God! The exact message I needed to hear, and by the week's end I had met my first financial goal!
The week at camp was so full of God's presence. The staff go down on Sunday to set up and decorate the cabins for the kids to arrive on Monday afternoon. Just before dinner on Sunday our pastor had the privilege to baptize three of the counselors. We were all there to witness this amazing moment in their lives.

Certainly the best way to start off camp for the week. The kids arrived and loved our decorations. They were the sweetest three 11 year olds I've met! We had so much fun swimming, horseback riding, climbing the Alpine Tower, biking, hiking, and shooting arrows like Katniss. Twice during the week there were severe storm warnings, even tornado warnings; but every time they traveled right around us dropping only a little rain. God had blessed our camp and the kids, so nothing was ruined by the weather.
I was also blessed to have a wonderful conversation with my camper about how we know that God and Jesus are real. She also wanted to know if they were different, which was always a struggle for me as a child so I felt I knew exactly what to say. It was a week of blessings!
I've been so encouraged by so many people and blessings from the Father. I'm so excited and looking forward to training camp that will start this weekend.
