Dear Friends and Family,

This letter has been sent to you because at some time during my 33 years our paths crossed. Perhaps you have been in my life since my birth or yours. You may also be a childhood friend from St. Mary’s, a teammate from Springfield YMCA gymnastics, a classmate from UJHS or HHS, a former teacher, a friend of a brother who became a friend of mine, a friend of my parents, a fellow OU Bobcat or a sorority sister, a colleague from KMS or AMS, neighbor, or just simply a friend I met and have been blessed to keep. I am genuinely grateful that God has led me down each of these paths to bless me with you in my life. Now God has asked me to take a new path, and you can still be apart of my journey.
This journey begins September 1, 2012 through Adventures in Missions’ trip called The World Race. This is a Christian-based organization that forms groups of about 50 young adults, divides them into teams of 6-8 people and sends them on a predetermined route to 11 countries in 11 months. Upon arrival to each country, the teams meet their liaison or “contact,” who sets them up with their ministry for that month.
I will not know specifically how I can help until I arrive, but I do know the general idea of how I may serve. I will have the privilege to love those in society who are not always loved well- orphans, adults with disabilities and those who live in trash dumps. I will mentor children who struggle to find the right path for their future, and restore hope to those who are living in the slavery of human trafficking. I will join in developing communities through manual labor. More importantly, each month I will share the hope, joy and love I have in Christ.
None of these things can happen without your support! I humbly ask that you consider participating with me in these 11 months of ministry. Prayer warriors will be my most valuable asset in the field. Please commit to praying for all those with whom I will come in contact; pray that God will open their hearts to the help I can provide. Please pray for my body to stay heathy, my mind to stay determined, and my heart to stay joyful and patient.
In addition to a prayer team, I need financial partners. The total cost for my trip is $15,500; however, I will also need to raise support to cover the expense of my health insurance and travel expenses to the week long training then my launch to Guatemala. The total I will work to raise is $17,000.
This sounds like a daunting number, but if 70 people commit to give $20 each month for 12 months, I can be fully funded! If a monthly commitment is not within your budget, please consider a one-time gift. It would be such a blessing to leave in September fully funded.
Please make checks payable to “Adventures in Missions” and include “Carly Bartemes” on the memo line. Please send the check and enclosed response card to Adventures in Missions, PO Box 534470, Atlanta, GA 30353-4470 or use the enclosed envelope. If you would prefer to make your donation online, you may do so by visiting my blog at: carlybartemes.theworldrace.org. Click the “Support Me” link in the upper left side of the page and complete your donation as instructed. All donations are tax deductable!
This is an exciting opportunity! I cannot wait to see how God will use these 11 months- mine as a missionary, yours as a prayer warrior, and all the lives we will impact. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at [email protected]

I am so blessed to have you in my life!

Will you join me on this journey?

Joyfully His,
Carly
