Happiness is fresh air, delicious food, cool nights, fluffy comforters, children's laughter, bonfires, Benji dogs, guitar worship under the stars and everything else I've experienced here in Thailand. Having time with my new girlfriends from morning to night has been so much fun. Slumber party every night. Late night conversations about Jesus are so much better than falling asleep reading the latest YA fiction. Life here in month 5 is such a drastic contrast to my life last month in the Philippines.
We have been working with children who are rescued from being sold into the sex trafficking trade. Yes, you read that right, children. When word gets out that a parent is planning to sell the organization gets involved and brings the child to their homes. Right now they have two girls' homes and one boys' home. We are living at the newest girls' home and visit the other for dinner most nights. I've had a wonderful time with the boys! They remind me of when Kelly, Ara and Sean (my brothers) were just little boys who loved to be tickled, chased and throw around a ball. I also enjoyed my day with the girls last week. One little, sassy 3 year old painted my nails with four layers of polish. She is an Asian Eleanor, for those of you who know that little ball of fire as well. The kids are all so happy every time we see them. They love to serve us. A 10 year old named Man makes us coffee after dinner each night. I'm so thankful for the work God has done in this organization, Remember Nhu.
It's also been great getting to know Nhu. To see that someone has been able to fight these dark forces and live a flourishing life in Christ brings such hope. God gave me the word joy coming into this month and He has certainly not disappointed. Joy is the only emotion I've been able to feel since being here. It's great! Thank you to my supporters for sending me on this amazing journey.
