For someone who is considered a “Generation Z” baby, I listen to the radio a lot. I actually don’t even use an auxiliary cord in my car or have a Spotify account. With that being said, I learn a lot from radio broadcasters.Today’s lesson comes from the radio and is pretty applicable to all of us.
“Put boldness on the top of your prayer list.” Simple, yet powerful.
The question remains. Why is it SO hard for us to be bold? To go after what we want with the fearlessness God embodies? I don’t have the answer, but I’m working on it. Little by little. Baby steps.
The Travis household has been a madhouse over Christmas break, and if you know my family, that won’t surprise you a bit. A lot of my “break” has consisted of World Race fundraising. Just in my small community I have reached out to hundreds of people. While many are lifelong acquaintances, it doesn’t make it any less intimidating to engage, interact and, more importantly, ask for money.
Each and every time I reach out to someone about the Race and want to shy away, I remember boldness is on the top of my prayer list. The same can go for YOU! In fact, I pray it does.
Deuteronomy 31:6 says, “So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
To me, that translates one thing: Boldness.
I recently read this quote: “The longest journey often starts with the smallest step.”
Deciding to participate in the Race was the first of many small steps. Right now, each small step of World Race preparation is strengthening my faith through the longest journey of them all – my walk with Christ. It’s infinite. It’s a true step-by-step journey. Most happen to be baby steps. With boldness at the top of my prayer list, I know I’ll soon be making leaps and bounds. I hope you are too.
I’m here to remind you that whatever you are seeking in life may not be easy. There will certainly be challenges but keep God on your side and you will always have something to fall back on when you get tripped up on the path. Take the chance, achieve the dream, reach the goal.
Be bold enough to take the first step toward whatever your heart desires. Soon, with the help of Jesus, we can all make great strides!
Much love,
Carley
