I love the end of the year. Yes, there’s Christmas and Advent, great music to be played (after Thanksgiving only please), delicious food and beverages, and time dedicated to being with friends and family. And this year, I have something big to look forward to in 2014.
But the real reason I love the end of the year are the lists. Best of/Worst of/Countdowns, I love them all. So I decided to come up with some of my own.
Eleven things I’ll miss:
1. Family
2. Friends
3. Wandering aimlessly through the aisles of Target
4. Consistently hot showers
5. Alone time
6. Trader Joe’s Chai
7. My record collection and bookshelf
8. Washing my clothes with Tide with Febreeze
9. Sleeping in a bed
10. Power watching TV series on Netflix
11. Spending lunches at the library
Eleven things I’m looking forward to:
1. People shooting off fireworks in China for no real reason.
2. Seeing how many stamps I can get in my passport.
3. Eating some…interesting food along the way.
4. Developing muscles by carrying a 40 pound pack around the world. Take that Tony Horton.
5. Experiencing miracles (including but not limited to not having the airlines “misplace” my luggage)
6. Going on an email/Facebook message reading, music and book downloading, blog reading binge when I get to a place with good wifi.
7. Reading the books I’ve downloaded to my Kindle. (Thanks Amazon for making the classic books I never read free!)
8. Playing card games with friends on 24 hour long bus rides.
9. Coming up with unique styles because I only have 4 shirts and 2 skirts.
10. New friendships
11. Seeing my account balance hit $16,285
