Before I came to Cambodia I honestly spent most of my time thinking
about the women and the children I would serve here. If you would have
told me about someone that hurt children it would have made my skin
crawl and my stomach turn.
I had the good fortune that before I came here God
showed me to love people for people as Christ’s creations and not by
their choices. We have all made poor choices :we have all tried to fill up
the voids in our lives with things that are not Godly not realizing he
is the only one who can fill it.
Last night my team and I had the opportunity to
pray for an amazing organization that is here in Cambodia and already in
action around the world. The group is called the MST project. They believe the men who would find themselves in the Red Light district are looking for something that only Christ can fill, that they are all loved, and that they all have a story. They also believe that if they help eliminate the demand it helps stop the trafficking.
We learned so much being in a room filled with men who have Christ’s compassion and heart for their fellow man. Their passion was transferable, their heart for the men in the areas called The Heart of Darkeness and Candy Bar lane was beautiful and the stories they shared with us during and when they got back were refreshing and gave me hope.
They talked to men from all walks of life but two threads ran true; they had found themselves in the red light district and were looking for love in all the wrong places. Interceding for these men and for the team broke my heart wide open and reminded me again that every person is a person who Christ loves, who Christ wants, and Christ desires.
