Training Camp Story #1
When I was in Thailand 7 months back I met an orphan who wanted me to be his mama. In a refugee camp at what seemed like the end of the world on the Thai / Burma border a 16 year old named Genesis changed my life in many ways.
16 year old Genesis in his great English asked me if I had any children; I responded no. He asked me to be his mama and he would be my child; every day he would pray for me and I would pray for him. He melted my heart. Everyday I think of my little son Genesis and wonder how he is.
Fast forward 7 months to the airport arrival in Georgia for camp. I look up as the World Racers are arriving and whom do I see but “Birdie”. Birdie and I met at the camp where Genesis lives; she works there but was not affiliated with the team I was with.
I refreshed her memory on who I was and quickly asked her about Genesis. She told me that just a few weeks ago she had taken him to the city and to the zoo for the first time ever; he was so happy. This made my heart sing.
I know Birdie was in GA to go on the 11 month World Race but really I think God just wanted to show me his overwhelming love by bringing her to tell me about Genesis.
What a loving God we serve !
