As I sit here, desperately trying to write a blog, I don’t even know where to begin explaining where my mind has been this month – mostly because it has been all over the place. I’m just going to let my thoughts roll out onto the page and see what happens…
One of the most powerful things I have learned this month is the importance of the church – not the building, but the body. There are many reasons for and functions of the collective, corporate, community of followers of Jesus, but one is the building up and encouragement of each other. Sometimes these words come from our own thoughts, observations, and insight. Other times these words come directly from God – to us, to share with specific people. Some of us would argue that these are probably the same thing. This month, the 14 of us men living together have been putting this practice to work – truly discovering and being “the body.” We have been observing, praying, listening, and openly speaking words of encouragement, criticism, love, and empowerment to one another in order to fully pursue and grow open, intimate, healthy relationships with one another.
All that said, I’m going to attempt a little social (and spiritual) experiment and throw some things out there, into the vast world wide web, and see what happens.
Prayer is a two way conversation. We speak, God hears. We listen, God speaks. Please pray through some, or all of the things on this list and let me know what you think you’re hearing – what is God telling you? If you don’t hear anything, keep asking. If you’re not 100% sure, good. Tell me anyway. If you’re 50%, good. Tell me anyway. I’ll talk to Him about it on my own, too, but I’m asking you to step out and join me – be the body.
– my team collectively (Lindsey, Katie, Kathryn, Nate, Kristi, Amy, me)
– my three months in Africa
– the second half of this year
– areas of my life where I can be giving God more control
– parts of my life/identity God wants to change and grow
– specific verses or books from the Bible that I need to read/hear/study
– just pray for me. Anything else… pretty broad. I’m open.
Thanks so much! My hope is to be able to continue writing blogs like this, and corresponding blogs about answers, responses, and crazy connections in the future. This is totally dependent on you and your participation, so please help me out. Of course this goes both ways. If there are things I can be praying for you, let me know. My email address is [email protected]. There is also a link to contact me on my blog page or just post on the blog itself. Thanks again – I can’t wait…
