let’s face it, the ‘Christmas Season’ is full of junk. and everyone knows it.
every year we talk about how the commercialization of the birth of Jesus is one of the biggest travesties to face humanity. and in a lot of ways that’s true. it’s not that giving is bad. in fact, i think it’s amazing. one of my favorite things about Christmas is stopping to take time to think about the people i love and how i can bless them with a really great gift.
the problem is not that we give gifts, but rather that we get so caught up in it that we forget the significance of a gift – specifically the gift that is Jesus.
so my goal over the next week leading up to christmas is to celebrate with you the gift of Jesus – who he was while on earth and who he is now – in me, you, and the world.
and what better way to start than from the beginning – his story, the first christmas? Here’s one of the cuter versions I’ve ever seen, but also, somehow one of the most honest and true renditions of the story. enjoy.
He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.
