I’ve just had a revelation! It may seem sort of ridiculous and small, but it was a revelation all the same. Ya know when you know you know something but you don’t feel like you actually know it, but then you hear it in a different way and then you realize you knew it all along but it seems life changing now? Yeah….same!
I was reading Oswald Chambers’ My Upmost For His Highest (my absolute favorite devotional) and I came across the most amazing passage. It said:
“It is wonderful to remember that Jesus Christ has needs which we can meet— “Give Me a drink” (John 4:7). How much kindness have I shown Him in the past week? Has my life been a good reflection on His reputation?”
For some reason, this passage hit me like a freight train moving a million miles an hour. I know God thinks I’m 100% worthy of His love, but I always feel as though I need to repay Him in some way…and I didn’t know how. It’s amazing to me that the Creator of the universe has desires that we need to fill! Jesus said when He was hungry we clothed Him and when He was thirsty we gave Him a drink. The Bible explicitly tells us that when we do anything for someone else with Jesus’ love in our hearts, we’re doing it for Jesus, fulfilling the only needs and desires He has for us on this earth. To love God and then in turn loving people.
Now, obviously God doesn’t need us. He’s divine and omnipotent. However, the knowledge that I can give Jesus food, drink, clothing, and love fills me with hope and passion, knowing not only that I wake up every morning with a purpose, but I can share this sense of purpose and importance to everyone I meet!
The latter half of the expert is also convicting. Have I been a good representation of my Savior this week? So that was my small revelation for the week!
Also, fundraising update: The support I’m getting is overwhelming! I love you all so much and I’m so thankful for you! I’m in contact with Fund the Nations to get t-shirts out soon, so be looking forward to that as well!
I pray that we all learn to know God more and serve Jesus this week!
