As broken people in a broken world, we create patterns to deal with the anxiety and uncertainty of life. Unfortunately, life is inevitably full of interruptions. It’s how we deal with them that shape who we are. If we allow it, interruptions can grow our faith and show us new directions. They are the perfect agents of change.
Jesus’ birth was a major interruption in all our lives. The Holy Spirit that conceived Jesus in Mary is the same Spirit given to us when Jesus died and the veil was torn! Because of this, when we accept Jesus into our hearts, it should be the craziest of life-changing interruptions. Following the Lord’s call is a day-to-day surprise and as I’m making radical decisions for my future, I’m realizing it’s the only way I want to live.
I pray that as we get into our Christmas routines of baking, present-wrapping, and gift exchanging we remember that the first Christmas was a complete and total disruption of our lives and it should continue to disrupt and change us every day!
Merry Christmas!
