Being on the race has been an absolute adventure… I couldn’t have planned the last 3 months of my life better. I have written a couple of blogs on what I have gone through spiritually and the lessons that Our Father has taught me, so this blog is going to be an update of what life the past few months has looked like for me!
Dominican Republic, Villa Mella- January 2016
All 5 of us, plus the family of 4, lived in a two bedroom apartment in Villa Mella, the neighborhood in which the apartment was located was very dangerous, so most of the time we weren’t allowed to go outside, which left all of us together in the apartment. This meant that we got a lot of team time together.. which was sometimes good and sometimes bad but it was definitely a growing experience. It allowed us to grow together and learn each other more than we ever thought possible in one month… we laughed until we cried, worshipped together & everything in between. While we weren’t in the apartment we were working at the local church with Pastor Juan. There, we picked up trash (everyone dumped there trash in one area), played with the children, painted the church & did some maintenance work, taught children english, taught the children stories from the bible, shared our testimonies and got the opportunity to really love and appreciate the community around the church. All together it was a really good month and I am really thankful for all of the adults and children that the Lord brought into my life.
Haiti, Titanyen- February 2016
This month was an all squad month, which meant all 41 of us were at a compound called Mission of Hope. This organization is absolutely amazing. Everyday they feed a total of 91,000 children, they have orphanages on the compound, schools for the children, they are partnered with the local villages and do so much more. While we were there we repainted all of the orphanages, machete the grass, village time in the local villages, built a roof, helped build the structure for a new building and some other maintenance things. Everything we did was to help the people of Mission of Hope and do the things they didn’t have the time to do. We got to serve the local villages and also serve the people that were housing and feeding us. It was amazing to see how doing something so little, meant so much to them. Everyone that we met at Mission of Hope had such a big heart for Jesus and being able to be apart of what the organization was doing, was truly incredible.
Costa Rica, Puerto Viejo- March 2016
Right now we are in COSTA RICA!! This place is absolutely beautiful. It is just my team (Janee, Lauren, Jill & Alexis) and we are living in an apartment that is right on the beach. It makes for perfect devotional time in the morning with my Jesus. In the past week, we have worked with Veronicas Place, and have repainted the entire local church. This month we don’t really have a specific agenda of what we are going to be doing, but we were told that we are going to do local evangelizing and work with the community. As these next couple weeks are coming up, I ask that you pray for my team and I. We could use all of the prayers that we can get!!!
Also… I am at a total of 10,500$!! Which is amazing, but unfortunately I missed my deadline a week ago and need to be at 13,000$. If you could partner with me and raise the rest of that money, I would be truly grateful! I can’t do any of this without the help of my supporters.
“Father, I thank you for everything that you have done in my life and my teammates lives in the past 3 months. You are such a good and loving Father and I can’t be more thankful for you love and influence. I thank you for pushing me and opening my heart. Lord, I ask that you open my eyes so that I may see Your children the way that You see them. I ask that You open my ears to the sound of your voice, and may that open my mind to Your thoughts. I ask that You train my mouth, to speak only your words and your wisdom. I seek to be more like You, in every way that I possibly can. Feeling your love is what gets me through everyday. I love you.”
