Hello y’all!!! Here we are in the Philippines! Month 11! Crazy how fast time flies. Since I couldn’t blog last month I shall tell y’all about my month in China!
So, in October my team was located outside of Beijing. We worked with an organization doing many different projects. Some of these included: Preschool, Teaching English, Painting, Cleaning, and having a day in the Foster home. Out of everything my favorite thing we did all month was working with the preschool. It isn’t preschool like you would think preschool. Here at preschool, mothers brought their young children and came to have their children be around English speakers so they can a start at a young age. Learning English is a big hit in China for future later on. During preschool mostly we would just play with the children and talk with the mothers, who as well are learning English. It was crazy to see how much of our English rubs off on these kids. Some of them could say words very clear, or they would repeat everything you said. Besides playing we always had a craft set up that went along with the weeks theme. Whether it was making a lady-bug, caterpillar, or just letting the kids be creative with markers stickers and whatever, it was always something that could push them to be more creative. Every day we also had story time and song time. We would do the same story for a week straight just so they could learn the words and have more of an understanding of the story. Then we would always end with those old child songs we used to hear when we were younger. Monkeys jumping on the bed was the biggest hit, the kids would always throw themselves on the ground when it was time for the moneys to fall off of the bed. It was the most hilarious thing ever. Also a cool part of preschool was that when new kids came in, we got to pick an English name for them!
This is Lisa, she was one of my favorite kids.

These are the crazy boys we taught English to some evenings
