It’s begun!
The world race is on.  I’m spending the first couple weeks of
the race with our neighbours down South.  On May 22, my parents and I drove down to Seattle and after being held up at the border, (yet another crazy travelling story, and more to come I’m sure!) I made it out of the country.  I’m at training camp now; next I’ll be making my way to New York which for “launch”.

After having landed here 4 days ago, today I found where I
actually am:  I’m nestled in the
woods by White, just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. I haven’t encountered
any southern woodland creatures here… well, only the ones that are so fond
of me they are successfully getting a piece of me.

The Eats:

The meals we’ve been eating correspond to a country we’ll be
in or simulate a travelling day.
For example, breakfast on Victoria Day was cilantro soup with bacon bits
and sardines.  And today is Africa
day so the girls had to serve the boys some umbagala while squatting so that we
always remained below them while they were seated.

The Lingo:

I gotta reassure y’all I’ma not gonna be forgetting no
gender down here; every time I’m a absent minded about my gender I’m a kindly
reminded of my gender with the addition of geerrlll,
or gerrlfrieeend into most sentences.

Re-routing:

The route has changed!
AIM has been advised that it is unsafe to travel to the Middle
East; we are now starting in Romania – Ukraine-Ireland – Africa – SE Asia- Nicaragua,
Guatemala.

Israel and Egypt would be amazing, but I’d rather come back
in one piece to tell you some epic adventures.

Highlights: meeting awesome
people, carrying some “unconscious” people up hill after being injured from a
plane crash, a surprise camping adventure, canoeing and swimming in the lake, 3.5
hour dance party for God, and sleeping outside under the Georgian stars.

Weather:

It’s hot time here.  No sweet spring blossoms and flowers, or sea breezes; my freckles testify – just  straight up hot time.   Right now I’m being serenaded by rumbles up above… thunder showers…?  That’s my cue to secure the tent! Bye for now!
