Romania

Among visiting gypsy villages, cutting down front yards
disguised as jungles, and savouring Mija’s baking, in Romania we had the privilege
of working with a group of women in their late 20s -30 s.  They lived in a home called
Jubilee.

The connection between these woman and I was like an instant
collision.  Their smiles, tears and
yearn for something beyond their experience and I collided.   I decided dive into these girls
lives as I could with an open heart.
My heart hurt for them and I cried out to God for redemption despite the
injustice that I cannot understand.
My vulnerability lead to my brokenness, but I don’t regret it.  I trust that God used all the moments
with them for His divine purposes.

Although I do know that these women have experienced loss, abandonment,
abuse and live with various disabilities… I can’t tell you much about these
girls histories, current struggles, I can’t tell you where they’ve been, but I
can look beyond the scars and see beauty from ashes and that the banner over
them is love.

 Quick intros:

Vivi – Within minutes of meeting Vivi, she showered me with
smiles, hugs and her welcome; she gifted me with a photo so that she could be
in my home and memory always.  When
Vivi and I left each other, I was trying to explain that despite her request, I
could not buy her a plane ticket to live with me in Canada.

Asia – She struck me with her enthusiasm and seemed to sense
comfort and peace when we were together.

Victoria – Initially Victoria struck me as stand-offish, and
hard. Her raw emotions broke through in the last moments of our time at
Jubilee.   Although our
driver’s 2 hour tardiness tested my patience, there was a divine purposes for
that time…Following my 30 min phone conversation with Victoria’s sister, Victoria
ushered me into her room, and as she closed the door, pent up tears were
released and streamed down her face.
Words were sparse but the message was thick.   She gave me her heartfelt little presents.   What was happening was higher than my understanding.

I am asking you to join me in petitioning for them.  Pray that the year of the Lord’s Favour,
as in Isaiah 61, may be upon them. Pray that these ladies will experience our
Mighty God’s protection, provision, and deliverance. These beautiful woman have
a life of redemption ahead of them.
Such prayers may collide with life as they know it bring their destiny
to reality.
