As this holiday season approaches and is upon us, it’s hard not to think about all of the “last,” that it seems to hold.

This may be the last time I see my aunt or cousins, for over a year. This is last time I will get to eat turkey on Thanksgiving! This is the last time I will get to look at Christmas lights for two years. These are the lies that flood my mind, lies from the enemy.

This is the complete opposite of where my heart should be. Each time I hear one of these little thoughts pop into my head, they always seem to be associated with a negative aspect of doubt in what the Lord has called me to do. About a month ago I heard a sermon about calling out the lies in our lives and replacing them with truth! I’ve also had an amazing friend who has reminded me of this truth time and time again in the past month. Each time I hear one of these lies I am then reminded by the Lord of all the sweet things that the next year WILL hold, rather than the things that it seems like I will miss out on. Yes, life at home will go on without me, but I must remember all of the things that the holidays abroad may hold. Whether that be a makeshift Thanksgiving meal or singing Christmas carols with my squad. I am becoming more and more excited as I look forward to all that the Lord has in store. While we may think traditions are what “make” the holidays, that is so far from the truth. It is the laughter and memories associated with those traditions that “make” the holidays. Where laughter and memories are being made, is where the holiday spirit is found.

As this Thanksgiving holiday came around I couldn’t help but think of how thankful I am for each and every individual reading this post, for all those who are praying for my journey and for those who the Lord has led to giving financially. I wanted to take a moment to express how thankful I am for each of you and your willingness to jump aboard on the things that the Lord is doing. Without you, this trip would look so different. I do not want to do this alone. Rather, I want to give y’all the opportunity to join in on this journey from the very beginning.

If you are interested in donating you can do so on my blog homepage. If you are interested in receiving prayer request updates throughout my journey send me a message and I will add you to my facebook page.
