Hello!

I'm so glad you've found my blog! I want to let you know about the new and exciting things going on in my life and that you will continue to visit the blog to learn more about my trip and the adventures I will take!

As you may or may not have known in August 2011 I left my job as an auditor with E&Y to pursue my master’s degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education.  Although I was not entirely sure where this path would lead me I knew God was showing me that I needed to find deeper meaning in my work as well as take a break from the pace at which I was living my life.  The last year and a half has been full of new experiences, challenges, and personal growth.

This summer I began to give serious thought and prayer as to what type of job I would be pursuing when I graduated.  Student Affairs was not turning out to be a perfect fit.  Although I wouldn’t trade the education I’ve received, I realized the work environment was not a good fit.  For better or worse, I enjoyed more analytical thinking.  As a result, I had very little direction, yet, I felt at peace.  I was confident that the Lord would show me where He wanted me to go next.  During this time I was reintroduced to the World Race.  I first learned about the World Race when a friend took the journey in 2009.  At that point I thought the trip sounded amazing but I couldn’t imagine leaving my job to participate.  Oddly enough three years later I found myself seriously considering it.

The more I pursued knowledge about the World Race and the organization that runs it, Adventures in Missions, the more my heart began to ache for this type of journey.  As friends and family asked me about my plans for after graduation, I gave them a laundry list of possibilities all the while having an inkling that I might leave them all behind to travel the world sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.  But I just kept thinking…Can I really take off for a year to go this journey with the Lord?  Then one Sunday I was praying about applying and the Lord reminded me of His promise in Deuteronomy 31:8, “It is the Lord who goes before you.  He will be with you; he will never leave you or forsake you.  Do not fear or be dismayed.”

At that point I knew fear was the only thing holding me back.  As a follower of Christ I am called to freedom not fear.  The Lord is calling me to this trip after graduation.  I applied, interviewed, prayed a lot, and was accepted!  The World Race is an 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 different countries around the world.  My route is July Route 1: Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, South Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland, Nepal, India, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Romania.  I will travel with a “squad” of 40-50 other racers.  We will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in the local communities to plant churches, do manual labor, or minister to women and children caught in human trafficking.  This a journey to bring hope, love and restoration to the nations while I grow in my understanding of what it means to follow Jesus with reckless abandon and learn to understand His love more fully and trust His provision for me.

With all of this said, embarking on this trip is not free.  I am writing to ask if you would consider partnering prayerfully and financially with me on this journey.  I must raise $15,500 in order to go on the World Race.  This money will cover all of my expenses on the field.  Financial support can be given as a one-time gift or as a monthly donation, wherein you choose the amount, the beginning, and the end date.  If 50 people pledge to give me $25 for 12 months, I would have nearly all of my support raised!

Just click the “Support Me” link in the upper left side of the page and complete your donation as instructed.  Or you can send in support via snail mail! (shoot me an email…[email protected]…for more info)

I am so grateful for the opportunity God has given me and I am thankful for the love and support you all have shown me to get me to this point.  Thank you for taking the time to read this and for considering partnering with me on this journey. I hope I can continue to share about my journey with you through this blog!
