Friends and Family,

I was not able to send out letters to all of you of what inspired me to go on the WORLD RACE. So I thought I would rewind a bit and post it for you.

Inspired by a healing

Even in the crowded room of people, I could see her; there was something about her; there was deadness in her eyes. A local lady told me about the woman I had been looking at. Her name was Opal and she was known to the community as a woman of darkness and it was true, I could see if from across the room. Three months ago I was in Jamaica with the Medical Outreach Team from San Diego.  They were there to bring medical help to the local people in this beautiful but dangerous paradise. My job was to pray for those who had received treatment but still needed spiritual healing. When it came to Opal, I wanted someone more qualified to work with her, but not me.

Well of course, Opal ends up right in front of me asking for a simple prayer. I was scared to death because the darkness in her eyes was frightening. When I put my hand on her shoulder I could feel the hardness of life that was upon her. I realized at that moment that I had nothing to offer her but to beg the Holy Spirit to allow his truth to shed light on this woman’s dark soul. As I prayed her body began to shake and then all of a sudden she relaxed. I looked up after my prayer and I did not see a change in her eyes but I could feel that God had done His work.

The next morning I saw this bright-light of a woman coming towards me and I did not recognize her until she gave me a hug and then I knew it was Opal! Everything about her changed. She told me she woke up and the depression that had followed her for so long was completely gone. She had come out of the darkness and into the light. The proof was in her eyes. I was overjoyed

There are hurting people all over the world that need what only Jesus can give. My short time in Jamaica inspired me to go out into other nations and bring hope to those like Opal. I was like Opal once and Jesus came alongside me with hope. He healed me from the depression and pain I felt because of the breakup of my family and then the death of my brother from a car accident. Now my desire is to come alongside the hurting and be God’s healing hands and feet.

The World Race is committed to this mission. I will go into 11 countries in 11 months where we will connect with local ministries and live among the people in poverty. I will be apart of a team of seven women who are willing to travel with only a 40+ pound backpack-that includes a tent and sleeping bag. This will be an adventure for sure but beyond that, a pilgrimage with the Lord.

I would love if you could come along with me on this journey –and you can. Here’s how…

  • Sign up to receive my blog alert on the left and follow me in prayer for the countries I will be visiting. Also you can leave me a note on my blog, I really love the encouragement=)
