My Life Be Like…Ooooo Ahhhhhh (Part 1)
I have a lot of things going on in my mind as I’m processing all that I have seen, felt, and experienced this past year. It’s really hard to being to answer questions like, “What was your favorite country?” , “What was the hardest part?”, or “What was your favorite memory?. So I’d like to take this blog to take you into a glimpse of what my life has looked like this past year, and how God has been shaping me into something new and beautiful. This is to help me process as well as to show you where I am coming as I return home.
My Life Be Like…
-Sleeping on any and every surface: bunk bed, office floor, air pad, hammock, baby mattress, church chairs.
-Becoming completely used to living out of a pack all the time and never having your own space for your belongings.
-Sharing everything. Clothes, shoes, medicine, tents, toiletries, beds, food, utensils, cups, chairs, you name it. We share EVERYTHING on the World Race. Even personal food usually turns into a community snack.
-Not being able to sleep past 6:30 am most mornings.
-Getting super excited when you get anything for FREE!!! Especially food.
-Wearing clothing multiple days in a row, depending on how long you can last in them until you can’t stand the smell.
-Being in awe and slightly weirded out when there is hot water to shower in or cold water to drink.
-Thinking that napkins and paper towels are wasteful after just using your shirt for the whole year.
-Living off of $4 a day for food.
-NEVER BEING ALONE.
-Getting used to the fact that travel days can be anywhere from 3 hours to 36 hours.
-Your mornings revolving around the coffee pot and Jesus time.
-Your bodily functions being known to everyone on your squad, and really not caring about it.
-Feeling like a nomad, constantly packing and unpacking, moving contacts and ministries and countries and cultures. Constant change becomes normal.
-Never doubting that your squad has your back no matter what.
