Dear January Squads,
It's here. It's FINALLY here. You've never been more excited, terrified, anxious, and thrilled in your entire life. You should feel that way. It's the freaking race! You have no idea what to expect because you haven't been told (get used to that by the way) or you've never done anything like this. They will tell you to drop all expectations- and do just that.
I am SO EXCITED that you've accepted this invitation that God's presented to you. It will be hard, but it will also be joyous, triumphant, and exciting. God is so much more gentle than you imagine, but also determined to love you well.. and that may look completely different than what you think it does.
You will pack, unpack, get rid of your clothes, and use others. You will find that some of the things you brought are completely useless as well as some things you will be so happy you brought.
Here's what I want you to know: every person's race looks different. The blogs you read.. they are other's experiences. You may or may not experience the things you read about. God is so specific that He has designed YOUR race for YOU.
And it's okay if you struggle. It's okay if the race isn't what you expected. It's okay if you don't like your teammates. It's okay if you don't fully understand the gospel. It's okay to feel uncomfortable (In fact- the sooner you learn to embrace being uncomfortable and the unknown the better off you will be).
IT'S. OKAY. This is not a place where you have to have everything figured out. Rest in that.
Be real with God, yourself, and others. The more honest you are the healthier your race will be. God is going to teach you what it means like to look beyond yourself. Beyond your perceived expectations. Beyond the love you think you know. He's going to rock your world this year, and I can't wait to watch.
Love,
Cara (VSquad)
