Here I go.

For some reason I’ve been called to do something wild. Wildly epic.

This calling started a couple of years ago. I was at a snow camp with my youth group when they announced the location of the short-term mission trip coming up in the Summer. It was to Jamaica. I was apprehensive about whether or not I should go, but I knew the tug on my heart couldn’t be ignored. Going to Jamaica was something only God could’ve planned. That trip changed my life. In Jamaica, I gave my life to Christ and began to see the beautiful works of His hands. I saw Him in the way that the people there had abundant joy despite their circumstances. I came back to America only wanting to go back. Ever since then, God has placed missions work heavily on my heart.

Since I was a little girl, college was always my plan for after high school until my world changed. High school looked different through my eyes than the average teenager. I come from a broken family; seriously broken. My best friend, my dad, passed away just a few months ago due to cancer. My world was then turned upside down. I had to rely more on The Lord than I ever have in my entire life. Missions had alway been in the back of my mind, but it wasn’t until I was broken that I realized how trivial worrying about college and tests were. God kept sweetly reminding me of that call to the nations. With the more prayers and tears, the more I felt sure God was calling me to make the world my classroom in the year of 2016-2017. Ultimately, The Lord’s timing is much greater than my own.

After an extensive application and interview process, I’m excited to tell you all that I have been accepted into the World Race Gap Year Program where I will serve with a team in Guatemala, Lesotho (It’s in Africa!) and Cambodia, spending three months in each country. For me to live is Christ. That is all I know. This opportunity is not for me, but to lift a light that could only glorify Him. “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven” Matthew 5:16. May every breath I have lift up praise to My Maker. May the world see His love and unbounding grace. May the people I encounter find what it truly looks like to live in Christ.

The next step: FUNDRAISING! I must raise $13,805 for my nine months on the World Race, this doesn’t include the extra costs of travel vaccines and all the gear I’m going to need for traveling. I know that the Lord will provide the resources, people, and opportunities to help fund my journey. This is where I need YOUR help. In the next ten months of preparation, I will need to raise this large amount of money. More than that, I will need your prayers in preparation for the resources and funds, but also for preparing my heart. I can’t wait to see My Creator’s world in which he chose you and me to live out this epic calling.
