Last week was training camp for the five squads leaving in January for The World Race. Camp lasted from Saturday to Saturday. Racers are required to complete training camp before going on the Race. I arrived at camp on Saturday, and left Sunday evening. I will no longer be going on The World Race.
This is a sad announcement for me to make, which is why it's taken me so long.
I had been having my doubts and fears about The World Race for a couple of weeks prior to training camp. But I just brushed them off thinking that it was normal to be a little worried and nervous about something so big. I also was not in a good place spiritually. I had not been preparing myself and spending time with the Lord the way I should have been. But again, I used an excuse. I knew that training camp would be tough and that I could use that time to "get right with God." That was very poor planning.
For the two days I was at camp, God opened my eyes to the things in my life that were keeping me from Him. Things that I tried over and over to make go away or pretend weren't real. But not properly dealing with these things or handing them over to God only kept me from Him. I also realized that part of the reason why I wanted to go on The World Race was to continue running. Not exactly the right motivation.
I have a lot of work to on myself before I travel around the world helping others in the name of Jesus. My heart has become hard and is not capable of ministering to those who need to see the love of Christ.
Simply put, now is not the right time for me to go on The World Race. God has other plans in store.
I am sincerely sorry to all of my supporters. Thank you for having faith in me and investing in this organization. You will be receiving a letter from me soon explaining the financial situation. In the meantime, please no more donations!
Please do not send any checks to Adventures in Missions and do not donate online. And if you were planning on sending money for a T-shirt, DON'T.
Since I'm no longer going on the race, there's no need to fundraise. But again, thank you so much to everyone who contributed. Like I said, I'll be sending letters to all who donated, but if you have questions now, please feel free to email me at: [email protected]
Thank you for understanding. Please keep Y, Z, A, B, and C squads (especially A) in your prayers as they continue to prepare for their journey in January.
With love,
Cara
